Skin Cancer Check

During your consultation the skin cancer doctor will assess your medical and family history, particularly in relation to previous skin cancers and sunburns, medications, previous operations, occupation and recreational activities and whether you are allergic to medications.

Mole Removal

Benign (non-cancerous) moles on the face can be removed using laser. The advantages are very little or no scarring, no need for surgery and often the procedure only takes a few minutes and there is no need for hospitalisation. Healing occurs within 1-2 weeks.

Mole Scanning

Full body mole scanning (full body photography) is a procedure of making a record of the whole body surface and the positions of individual mole or lesions. A body mole scan allows for the ability to compare past and current photographs of moles on the body with photographs taken in the nearest future.

Biopsy

If the doctor thinks that a suspicious area might be skin cancer, the area (or part of it) will be removed and sent to a lab to be looked at under a microscope. This is called a skin biopsy.

Surgical Treatment

There are 2 main surgical treatments for skin cancers, and these are usually able to be performed at our centre under local anaesthetic. This avoids unnecessary hospital visits and helps to keep costs to a minimum.

Topical Treatment

Topical treatments may be prescribed to patients with specific forms of skin lesions. A gel, cream or solution is rubbed onto the affected area to stimulating the immune system response to cancerous cells.
